How to Use

For Aromatherapy

To promote peaceful sleep or to alleviate stress, anxiety & fatigue, add about 3-5 drops of Iryasa Lavender essential oil for every 100ml (3.3 fl.oz) of water in a diffuser.

You may need to increase/decrease the number of drops depending on the size of the room and where your diffuser is kept. For instance, you'd probably need less number of drops for a smaller or less ventilated room. Since the intensity of scents are such a personal preference, we recommend that you start with less and work your way up as needed.

For Topical Application

To make a massage oil blend for relieving muscular aches and pains, dilute with a suitable carrier oil such as Fractionated coconut oil or Grapeseed oil.

We recommend using 10-12 drops of Iryasa Lavender essential oil in 15ml (0.5 fl.oz) carrier oil to make ~2-3% dilution.

Safety Precautions

General Precautions

  • All Iryasa Essential Oils are highly concentrated - always dilute with an appropriate carrier oil before topical use

  • Not for internal use, except if directed by an expert or a qualified practitioner

  • Never use undiluted essential oils near eyes or mucous membranes

  • Store in a cool, dark and dry place

  • Keep out of reach of children

  • If pregnant, lactating or under any medication, consult your physician before use

Frequently Asked Questions

There are so many different kinds of Lavender oil. Which one is the “true lavender”?

The everyday common lavender is sold under different names – Lavandula angustifolia, L. officinalis and L. vera (“true lavender”). They are all the same oil. On the other hand, L. latifolia or L. spica (spike lavender) and L. stoechas (Spanish Lavender) maybe mildly neurotoxic. So, it is always important to check the Latin name when buying your Lavender oil to ensure you have got the right one you need.

How long does it take for Lavender oil to be distilled. Do distillation times matter?

A longer distillation time ensures extraction of more of the desirable components in an essential oil. Several commercial brands of Lavender essential oil are moderately priced because they have been distilled for only about 40 minutes at high temperatures to increase yield, though it compromises the quality and beneficial components of the oil.

At Iryasa, our oils are distilled for ~6 hours at low temperatures (70-80 degrees Celsius) to maximise the yield and the therapeutic properties.

What is Lavandin?

Often mistaken for Lavender, Lavandin is actually a hybrid of Lavandula angustifolia (true lavender) and Lavandula latifolia (spike lavender). When you see stunning images of “lavender fields” with impeccable rows of plants with perfectly rounded vivacious purple flower tops, they are most likely Lavandin. The true lavender has purplish-grey flowers and aren't perfectly shaped! :)

Dilution Guide

Most websites/blogs mention about diluting essential oils before topical application. While this is correct, it is not sufficient!

Use the guide below to get started on your DIY blending journey.

Interpreting the charts

Step 1: As per age group, please take note of the recommended and maximum dilution percentages.

Step 2: Based on the amount of carrier oil, you can find the corresponding number of essential oil drops to be used to achieve the dilution you require e.g., for 1% dilution in 30ml of carrier oil, use 8 drops of same/different essential oils.

Precautions

Always perform a 24 hour period patch test at the recommended dilution levels or lesser, as per the age group to check for any allergic reaction or skin sensitivities.

While the dilution percentages work for most of our essential oils, we strongly recommend that you read the safety precautions listed for each oil before you craft the blend.
