How to Use

For Aromatherapy

Add about 4-5 drops of Iryasa Lemon essential oil for every 100ml (3.3 fl.oz) of water in a diffuser. The fresh, citrusy scent shall help impart an energising & enlivening atmosphere along with several therapeutic benefits.

You may need to increase/decrease the number of drops depending on the size of the room and where your diffuser is kept. For instance, you'd probably need less number of drops for a smaller or less ventilated room. Since the intensity of scents are such a personal preference, we recommend that you start with less and work your way up as needed.

For Topical Application

Lemon essential oil helps remove excess oils and can be used to soothe acne prone skin. It also prevents infections when used on insect bites and stings.

Dilute 4 drops of 100% pure Lemon oil in 15ml (0.5 fl.oz) of carrier oil such as Grapeseed oil to make a 1% dilution.

Safety Precautions

General Precautions

  • All Iryasa Essential Oils are highly concentrated - always dilute with an appropriate carrier oil before topical use

  • Not for internal use, except if directed by an expert or a qualified practitioner

  • Never use undiluted essential oils near eyes or mucous membranes

  • Store in a cool, dark and dry place

  • Keep out of reach of children

  • If pregnant, lactating or under any medication, consult your physician before use

Specific to Lemon Essential Oil

  • We always recommend performing a patch test, especially if you are using Lemon oil for the first time on your skin
  • Lemon oil may cause skin sensitisation, especially if it is old or oxidised. Therefore, always ensure that the cap is tightly fitted on the bottle and kept closed when not in use. Avoid using it on skin if it will be exposed to direct sunlight within 6 hours of use.

Frequently Asked Questions

I want to clean my home with natural products. Can I combine Lemon essential oil with Tea Tree essential oil to clean my home?

Absolutely! Lemon is a common essential oil used for cleaning surfaces due to its antibacterial properties. Combining it with Tea Tree essential oil in a 20:1 ratio shall reduce the camphoraceous scent of Tea Tree which may be too overpowering for some people. This blend can be added into several of your home cleaning products to effectively clean the floor and kitchen surfaces, drains, garbage chutes, etc.

How many lemons does it take to make 1ml of Lemon essential oil?

While it depends on the size of the lemons and extraction methods, it takes about 3-5 lemons to produce 1 mL of Lemon essential oil (obtained by cold pressing the peels of the lemon fruit).

Is Lemon essential oil phototoxic?

The lemon oil that is cold pressed from the peels of the fruit is phototoxic, but is also therapeutically superior and possesses the strong, fresh scent that Lemon is known for.

On the other hand, the lemon oil that is steam distilled from the fruit is not phototoxic, but lacks the same aroma associated with lemon and its therapeutic benefits.

While buying Lemon essential oil, it is important to always check the part of the plant used and its extraction method.

Dilution Guide

Most websites/blogs mention about diluting essential oils before topical application. While this is correct, it is not sufficient!

Use the guide below to get started on your DIY blending journey.

Interpreting the charts

Step 1: As per age group, please take note of the recommended and maximum dilution percentages.

Step 2: Based on the amount of carrier oil, you can find the corresponding number of essential oil drops to be used to achieve the dilution you require e.g., for 1% dilution in 30ml of carrier oil, use 8 drops of same/different essential oils.

Precautions

Always perform a 24 hour period patch test at the recommended dilution levels or lesser, as per the age group to check for any allergic reaction or skin sensitivities.

While the dilution percentages work for most of our essential oils, we strongly recommend that you read the safety precautions listed for each oil before you craft the blend.
