How to Use

As an under eye oil

Being anti-inflammatory in nature, it eases swelling and reduces puffiness in the under-eye region. Use a roll-on applicator to apply Sweet almond oil carefully under your eyes and gently massage the area.

To fade scars

Sweet Almond oil is traditionally used in Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine to reduce scarring and reduce the appearance of stretch marks.

Add 2 drops each of Neroli, Lavender, Patchouli and Frankincense essential oils to 30ml Sweet Almond oil. Mix well and apply to scars & stretch marks and gently massage into the skin.

As face & body scrub

Add 10 drops each of Lavender, Sweet Orange and Rosemary essential oils to 60ml Sweet Almond oil. Add 1 cup of sugar to the blend and mix well. Gently scrub all over your face and body to exfoliate dead skin and brighten your complexion.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the nutrients present in Sweet Almond oil?

Sweet Almond oil is rich in vitamin A, E, omega-3 fatty acids and zinc. The retinol in vitamin A stimulates the production of new skin cells and smoothens fine lines. Vitamin E has antioxidant properties that help prevent UV damage caused by the sun. Omega-3 fatty acids prevent premature aging and lastly, zinc is an essential healing nutrient.

I have a nut allergy. May I use Sweet Almond oil?

If you’re allergic to nuts, it’s safer to avoid using Sweet Almond oil. You may consider Jojoba oil as an alternative.

What is the difference between Sweet Almond oil and Bitter Almond oil?

Sweet Almond oil is a fixed oil (or carrier oil), whereas Bitter Almond oil is an essential oil. They come from different trees – Sweet Almond oil comes from Prunus amygdalus whereas Bitter Almond oil comes from Prunus amara.

Sweet Almond oil is completely safe and can be used in large quantities for its therapeutic benefits.

Bitter Almond oil is historically used in small quantities only for its wonderful scent or flavour. It has no aromatherapy or skincare benefits and due to its potential for toxicity, it is avoided for internal use.

Dilution Guide

Most websites/blogs mention about diluting essential oils before topical application. While this is correct, it is not sufficient!

Use the guide below to get started on your DIY blending journey.

Interpreting the charts

Step 1: As per age group, please take note of the recommended and maximum dilution percentages.

Step 2: Based on the amount of carrier oil, you can find the corresponding number of essential oil drops to be used to achieve the dilution you require e.g., for 1% dilution in 30ml of carrier oil, use 8 drops of same/different essential oils.

Precautions

Always perform a 24 hour period patch test at the recommended dilution levels or lesser, as per the age group to check for any allergic reaction or skin sensitivities.

While the dilution percentages work for most of our essential oils, we strongly recommend that you read the safety precautions listed for each oil before you craft the blend.
