How to Use

For Aromatherapy

Add about 6-8 drops of of Iryasa Eucalyptus essential oil for every 200ml (6.7 fl.oz) water in a diffuser to help decongest and relieve a stuffy nose. It also helps purify and cleanse the air.

You may need to increase/decrease the number of drops depending on the size of the room and where your diffuser is kept. For instance, you'd probably need less number of drops for a smaller or less ventilated room. Since the intensity of scents are such a personal preference, we recommend that you start with less and work your way up as needed.

For Topical Application

Diluted with a suitable carrier oil such as Grapeseed oil or Sweet Almond oil, it can be used as a pain relief massage oil to soothe affected areas, sore muscles and general body aches.

We suggest using ~12 drops of Iryasa Eucalyptus essential oil in 30ml (1 fl.oz) of carrier oil (to make ~1-2% dilution).

Safety Precautions

General Precautions

  • All Iryasa Essential Oils are highly concentrated - always dilute with an appropriate carrier oil before topical use

  • Not for internal use, except if directed by an expert or a qualified practitioner

  • Never use undiluted essential oils near eyes or mucous membranes

  • Store in a cool, dark and dry place

  • Keep out of reach of children

  • If pregnant, lactating or under any medication, consult your physician before use

Specific to Eucalyptus Essential Oil

  • We always recommend performing a patch test, especially if you are using Eucalyptus oil for the first time on your skin
  • People with dermatitis must not use more than 1 drop in 15ml (0.5 fl.oz) of carrier oil for topical applications/massages (less than 0.3% dilution) because of the 1,8-cineole content
  • Do not use this oil near the face of infants or children under the age of 10

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Eucalyptus globulus and Eucalyptus radiata?

Eucalyptus globulus has ~75% 1,8-cineole, whereas Eucalyptus radiata has ~60% of 1,8-cineole. While Eucalyptus globulus is the most popular of the Eucalyptus oils, the other varieties have similar benefits and healing properties.

Due to presence of less cineole, E. radiata is considered gentler and milder than E. globulus, however it also has similar properties and soothes a congested respiratory system.

How effective is Eucalyptus oil in preventing the spread of infections?

Due to its antibacterial & antiviral properties, Eucalyptus oil is fantastic to prevent spread of infections and protect the rest of the household from being infected.

Eucalyptus oil is a known immune stimulant and scientific research has shown that as little as 2% of Eucalyptus oil in a room spray can destroy as high as 70% of Staphylococcus bacteria in the air.

Is there a way I can concentrate the vapours of Eucalyptus oil to help soothe a stuffy nose?

If a diffuser is not providing sufficient direct vapour to help decongest your system, try steam inhalation. Add a few drops of Eucalyptus oil to a bowl of steaming hot water and carefully drape a towel over your head & shoulders to direct the steam to your face. Combining steam and Eucalyptus vapour may quickly help relieve a congestion.

Dilution Guide

Most websites/blogs mention about diluting essential oils before topical application. While this is correct, it is not sufficient!

Use the guide below to get started on your DIY blending journey.

Interpreting the charts

Step 1: As per age group, please take note of the recommended and maximum dilution percentages.

Step 2: Based on the amount of carrier oil, you can find the corresponding number of essential oil drops to be used to achieve the dilution you require e.g., for 1% dilution in 30ml of carrier oil, use 8 drops of same/different essential oils.

Precautions

Always perform a 24 hour period patch test at the recommended dilution levels or lesser, as per the age group to check for any allergic reaction or skin sensitivities.

While the dilution percentages work for most of our essential oils, we strongly recommend that you read the safety precautions listed for each oil before you craft the blend.
